What do you envision for the future of Philadelphia, and how do you imagine we might evolve to support or challenge that future? In response to this prompt, artists Amze Emmons, Rami George, Alicia Link, and Qiaira Riley offer bold calls to action, awareness, and community via new works that will be on view at AUTOMAT as a part of Collective Futures.
Alongside the exhibition, AUTOMAT will release If-When: The Art of the Proposal, a publication that explores proposals as a plan, a presentation of hope, a signpost for a possible future – and asks when an idea is successful, or a failure? Writings by Blanche Brown and Macy West will be featured alongside selected submissions to If-When.

AUTOMAT Collective is a curatorial collective that champions emerging artists through exhibitions, programming, and publications. We are created by and for artists: It is our mission to support the developing trajectories of emerging artists and to provide a space where artists and curators can undertake experimental projects that advance the dialogue of our visual culture. In addition to our regular programming, we are proud to partner with other collectives and community organizations. We are based in Philadelphia.
